I can't go. My parents want me to come home this weekend because I haven't seen them for like 3 weeks or something like that. But please take pictures! I'll put them on the website.

ahhh. when are we going to make banners and flyers. tommorow's thursday, and we still don't have sheets or anything. i would say friday, but eating mt. anderson is playing at CSW, and i want to see the, and it'd be a total asshole thing to stick around on campus to paint but not show up. the only times i'm around are late on friday after eating mr. anderson, or saterday evening/night. i'd propose doing saterday night and staying somewhere overnight, so we could drive up earyish. i know we could use my house to paint, and could probably sleep here as long as people can put up with limited space.
and please trck down sheets if you can. i'll try to get to a few thrift stores, but no promise they'll have anything good. and remember to find old (recently washed) socks for sandbags.

Yeah Ben I would be willing to do it Saturday night (I don't think I could go earlier but probably in the evening). I can scrounge around my house for banners. Eric is supposed to call the NH transportation authority tofigure out the legalities and such. If the banners don't work or there are legal issues Eric and I can probably go to Kinkos (or use my pritner untilt eh ink runs out) and use the pirates money to pay for loads of flyer copies to hand out and paste up. I'm also going to research radical spaces taht in Manchester (is that where we're going? does anyone know anything about manchester? is there a college near by, is it a city? sorry, i am quite naive about it. I've onyl been to Manchester By THe Sea and that's pretty deserted) that we might want to visit and leave flyers at. I'll also probably be at eating mr. anderson so i will see you there!

Here is the scoop up to date: I called the Dept. of Transportation, and the woman I talked to took the approach of, "Well, I don't really know if it's allowed or not, but I see them all the time. I would say to you just do it and don't get caught [laughs]." Another guy there, who wasn't official or anything, was saying that he thinks its a bad idea, incase it falls and hurts someone (but we know that ours wouldn't because of the strong cable ties [or whatever the name is]). The right guy to talk to was not in the office, she told me to call back tomorrow at 3 pm (and since I have school then, CaptainLaura will be calling). It sucks that you can't go Phoebe! We will miss you! PirateDanny and PirateMike can't come either, and PirateMolly, PirateAmy, and FirstMateDan are still maybes. I am pushing for saturday night as well. can any pirates who can't come sunday come to this to help us out? I still don't have any sheets, but I have some old socks. I do have money to donate. Other Pirates, please donate (or buy a shirt now) because this is basically your last chance to help out financially. Speaking of money, there isn't an assembly between now and this weekend at my school, but maybe other people could try announcing what we are doing and collecting money? The idea came to me last night, which sucks because I think we could have gotten a lot of money at my school. PirateDanny, FirstMateDan, CaptainLaura, PirateAmy and others: maybe you could announce it at your respective schools? Sorry for the late notice. Money would be used for flyers and sheets, etc. We need to pick which flyers to do, I guess we can do that Saturday when we meet up. I still have a bunch of premade ones. What do people think about videotaping part of Sunday? I think it would be cool to have to remember. Also, I talked to my mom and she said that we would be home before 7, for those of you who were wondering (As she pointed out, you can't do much once it is dark... unless it is securing banners for the next day).

a couple of things i'm cool with going to manchester. which, by the way, is not at all the same as manchester by the sea. its a decent size city, with it's share of stores and residential nieghborhoods and highway intyeresctions. i've only been to the airport and driven around, but it seems like a decent size city laura, i wouldn't use kinkos or your printer, since me and eric can get free copies at school. i'll try to get something together tommorow, but no promises. as for money, i finnally ordered the shirts, so pleeeaaase try to pay me, preferably before the bill comes. and yeah, please try to get together a little cash for stuff, since i'm going to go out and buy sheets at salvation army or good will tommorow, and i'd like to get some money back, since i've already paid for the grommets and cable ties and screen printing stuff for shirts myself.

We still need a definite yes or no from PirateAmy and FirstMateDan (who aren't picking up their phones). incase one of you is reading this, please call. We are expecting FirstMateDan to come with us, and I am assuming PirateAmy isn't coming since we don't even have a probably yes. Nobody should try to meet us in Manchester, we are driving up together (which is much easier).
they ain't gonna send us packin' like they did my man Fred Hampton

The Swing State Trip was excellent! Four Pirates, not including my mom, sailed to Concord (surprise! we changed the location because it is illegal to flyer in Manchester without a permit), New Hampshire today. We passed out over 500 flyers, put up and passed out many stickers, and hung three banners (on Route 293 and Everett Turnpike). One was the same "No Child Left Behind?" one that we did before, and another read "1,100 US Soldiers Killed in Iraq" and next to it (on the third banner) is an outline of a person with a helmet on (painted in red). Pictures will be up soon, along with an article in Boston Indymedia, and maybe one in a NH Indymedia (if there is such a thing). I'll post when this happens. Also I should mention that all of the materials we used were paid for with donations to Pirates, and we still have some left over!
As we hung banners and passed out flyers, hundreds of workers rallied in DC (against the war and for healtcare and other rights) and thousands protested the war, Bush, and Blair in London. viva la resistance!

For Indymedia articles on this, look under Pirate Press (in general or news, i forget). Phoebe, you can also get pictures to post from the articles.
