I propose a monthly meeting. It is easy for many of us Pirates (especially those of us not so close to Boston) to get left behind with the Pirates Against Bush activism, as many of the smaller events seem to be happening without notification ahead of time.
I also propose a contact list so we know how to get in contact with each other more easily and become a more tightly knit group.

i think both of these ideas are very good. we may be able to get official meeting space and the Lucy Parsons Center so that we feel comfortable giving out the address to strangers (rather than being at someone's house) and also so that people dont have the burden of having it at their home. AND LPC is a graet place you all have to see. Maybe we can wait for Laura to be an official volunteer there and do that, or maybe we can ask now. but two thumbs up and twinkles to the address list and monthly meetings (maybe twice monthly?)

I was going to say twice monthly but then I wasn't sure if the rest of the Pirates would be gung ho about that so I suggested once. I would prefer twice actually. Yay twinkies! The Lucy Parsons Center thing would be great, and we'll just need directions and stuff for it so I can put it on the site.

I would definitely be gung ho for that! I think the Lucy Parsons center is a great idea, but I also think that if someone was comfortable having a meeting in their own home, that would be really chill. I volunteer myself to bake allllll kinds of snackity snacks for meetings too.

Ahoy! I definitely second the contact list, on the next newsletter I will ask everyone to send me whatever they are comfortable with giving out and I can type it up. I work at LPC and it might be hard to get a bi-monthly meeting there but once I get back to work (I'll be home Saturday) I can ask about how one goes about setting these things up and hopefully they'll have a space after school hours (or maybe even a Sunday or something?). If not, I can ask about just monthly meetings and if none of these work we can still have it at my house (as long as none of you are cops!) So basically to bottomline this I offer to: 1) Ask everyone on the next newsletter (soon! I promise!) for their contact info. 2) Talk to LPC in the next week about bi-monthly/just monthly meetings. (shall we say after 4pm for weekdays in case people have school?) Is this cool with all of you that I do this? (If you have major suggestions or changes post but if not i'll go ahead!
Love and revolution, Capt'n Laura PS: Wherever we hold meetings, I totally second the snacks from Joy!

Sorry, one more plug. All this speaking of Lucy Parsons Center I though I should tell people where/what it is! LPC is a radical bookstore and community center in the South End. check it out, frequent it, it needs your money to stay open! www.lucyparsons.org

The D-Block at CSW gets out at 4:15pm and it takes about half an hour-ish to get to Boston if we take the school bus to Alewife etc.
This other piece only applies to me because I am a border but Study Hours is from 7-9pm and I can't do a study hour sign out until a mod (month) or few into the school year.
We'll see how this works out though, whatever it is I'm sure I can find a way to squeeze it in.

we do have an email list, email [glow=red,2,300]PiratesAgainstBush@hotmail.com[/glow] to sign up! The idea of the contact list is to have towns and phone numbers etc (I assume) so that we can all get to know each other more easily. Just a note about the meetings, if they are to be at LPC we need to give them lots of notice and it has to be approved at their bi-monthly meeting before we can be given the space. It's a great space though. (In case you guys can't tell I'm pushing to have our meetings there).

just to clarify, Captain Laura and I talked and we plan on bi-monthly meetings. She is looking into a space at the Lucy Parsons Center. Also we are thinking about having a meeting type thing at the pool party since so many pirates will be there.

so what happened to the idea of having meetings??? could we not get a space, or something, or have people lost interest in the idea, or is it just that no one has gotten around to planning one. i suspect its just that everyone's been busy and we're all forgetful. i think we should have a real meeting sometime soon, but i definately don't have the time or energy organize it, and am not even sure when i'd be free to come to one. and i bet most of you are the same way. so yeah, just wondering what people are thinking about meetings now.

yeah was thinking that we should get a meeting, and laura talked about getting one at lucy parsons center. but, alas, it has not been done, mostly because we decided that those of us who are involved are going to really be the only ones involved, since PAB may be ending (at least under that name) in around a month. we figured all meeting stuff could be done with people while making and dropping banners. plus i'm not so sure who would go to the meetings besides the few of us who are really involved. there isn't really a time when we can all meet soon besides the times we are using also.

I am now in the Lucy Parsons Center Collective and while organizing a meeting there would take a while (it has to go through the collective meeting, every two weeks etc) my shift is 3-6 on Thursdays so (I know this is a BIG reach) maybe if some Pirates are free they can stop by and maybe we can talk? Hmm...we do need a meeting. But like Ben, I am literally up to my eyeballs in work. (college apps are due very very soon...ugh...and my school is piling on the work...). I'm kind of floudering here

Pirate DanArrr and I were talking and we think it would be good to start up meetings (monthly like we said) now that we are going to have to be around a lot longer than we expected (or at least hoped). I think it would be good to have one soon so we can still have the election fresh in our minds. Dan already has some good ideas and I have a couple as well.
