Oh yeah and Ben, I used to live in Hanover, NH so I might recognize some places (though I lived there when I was like 8 years old) and we could always go there and see if we could make a difference to the Dartmouth College voters.

Is Hanover in the North or South? Also, is Dartmouth pretty liberal, or are they between? (obviously between would be the ideal crowd for us). Pirate Dan Arrr said he could go (I think) only on October 17th. That's the Million Worker March I just remembered! I talked to my mom and I can't go to this (juniors- we have psat that saturday, that's why my mom wouldn't accept the excuse of it being a college trip). I know Captain Laura only has time for one trip. Do we want to pick this day? (It's fine with me). Also, CSW kids, we have mod break the weekend before, from Friday the 8th til Monday the 11th. Maybe we can get together and make some of the banners/flyers then? Who has ideas for flyers/banners, and who knows where we can get the resources for this cheap or free?

I just looked up directions to Hanover, NH, and it's about 2 1/2 hours away from my town, in the east bordering VT about halfway up the state. Concord (the capital) and Manchester are two other big towns that we would go through on the way, and they are each about an hour and 15 minutes from my town. www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&un=m&2tabval=address&cl=EN&ct= NA&1tabval=address&1y=US&1a=&1c=Wellesley&1s =MA&1z=&1ah=&2y=US&2a=&2c=Hanover&2s=NH&2z =&2ah=&idx=0&id=41534ec1-0015a-060a5-400c2528 &aid=41534ec1-0015b-060a5-400c2528&bs.x=0&bs.y=0 There's a map. We talked about targeting a large town with college campuses. Here is what I found for colleges in the two towns: Concord has less colleges, and UNH-Manchester and Hesser are in Manchester, the only colleges listed I knew. I say Manchester, because (if I remember right) it is the biggest city in New Hampshire, it has the most colleges, and it is 10 minutes closer! thoughts?

yeah, i'd be alright with the 17th. but i'm not around for mod-break. if we're going to use my house, the weekend before mod-break (i guess october 3rd, a sunday) is better.
hah. i forgot i'd spent a bunch of time in hanover this summer. (or, actually, i just forget it was in NH, not vermont) from what i could tell, its definately one of the more liberal towns around. (it the only town within miles that has not 1 but 2 good organic hippieish food stores, a theater showing farenhiet 9/11, more firsbee players and hikers than hunters, etc.) from what i saw, they also didn't have many good overpasses for banners. besides, concord and manchester are bigger and closer.

Well since Dartmouth College is an Ivy League school, it probably has lots of rich kids who come from more conservative families, but who knows, I don't think it's one of the conservative Ivy league schools at all, but it might be a bit wobbly, if that's what you ask, Eric.
These are the times I know I am not free so far: 1. This weekend - going home 2. Saturday of next weekend (probably but not definite)

Alright so between Phoebe and Laura (who is gone this next weekend), I think it would be best to meet to make banners on Sunday, October 9th.. but it seems like Ben won't be home? Maybe then we can do it Sunday October 3rd so that Phoebe and Ben can go? Basically, no time works for everyone, but we need it to work for Ben if it's going to be at his house. We should also consult whoever else is coming, but I can be free all of these times (I think). Also, why is this thread so fat, what happened to it?

I think it's fat because of your giant mapquest link. You or I can edit your post to change it, but I wont do anything unless I have your consent.
P.S. does Pirate Dan ARRRR know about this plan to go to NH and also banner making and stuff? he hasn't been on the forum for a long time, even though I changed his password for him.

yeah you can fix it. Pirate Dan Arrr knows some of it because we talked, but not all that he should know. if one of you talk to him you should tell him, and I'll do so as soon as I can/remember.

just wanted to update everyone that Laura and I met Jen and got 3 wonderful peices of art from her that we can use with flyers or whatever. I really like them, but unfortunately I don't have any pictures on the computer.

yay! now we don't have to have boring flyers. i'd love to check them out and maybe design flyers for them. if you could scan them or bring them to school so i can borrow them and scan them, that would be awesome.
also, if we're still planning on using my house to make banners, we should probably figure that out, since i wont be around next weekend.

This sounds great. I'd love to go if there's enough room for me.

i think it's too late to pull banner making together this weekend, and if it is going to be at ben's it can't be next weekend. That pretty much leaves us with friday october 15th I guess? Ben are you gone over all of mod break? Does anyone else have space? I'll get you the art in school, remind me incase I forget. I think we should use the pirate loot we have for this (for photocopies and stuff). What do other people think? I believe we have around $50 (not counting money from the shirts)
people who have expressed interest so far are: me, Captain Laura, Pirate DanArrr, Pirate Danny (private crunch), Pirate Phoebe, Pirate Ben, Pirate Amy, and Pirate Molly. If all of those people come, we have 8 people (and my mom's car only has space for 6), so maybe we should organize another car. Captain Laura, Pirate Phoebe, Pirate Ben, Pirate Molly, Pirate DanArrr, and I were the first 6 to express interest in going, so if we can't get another car unfortunately those six would be the only ones going. I have a feeling all 8 of us won't be able to go, but people should ask their parents if they would be willing to drive. Remember they would have my mom for company, and would be allowed to participate if they wanted.

Since this is creeping up on us, we should probably get a final head count and a meeting place and time. Should we meet at a T stop near Eric's? Or at Eric's? PirateEric: do you have an opinion on which? And what time?
PS: I'm in Madison, Wisconsin now and not only does it have a great radical community but lots of pirate-ey loot around! Arrg mateys!

i would suggest that folks check the train schedules from their houses and see when they could be at my house (or ask a friend or parent for a ride), because I know that I can't go to Weston, Sharon, Cambridge, and all over the state to pik you all up. It may be a possibility that we pick you up in Boston, but please ask me if this is okay. Once I know when everyone can be here by, we can plan accordingly. Captain Laura, PirateBen, PirateDanArrr and myself are the only ones who have given the DEFINITE yes. PiratePhoebe is close to sure too. I will be in contact with other people who expressed interest, but don't count on me to call you; post or call me!

I also want to update everyone that I got 500 bright yellow anti-bush stickers. they are medium size, so they are much better than bumper stickers. i still have 200 bumperstickers left over, and I may be getting a buttload of circular anti-bush stickers, probably 100-500. wohoo we can sticker the hell out of new hampshire and pass them out, maybe write things on the back of them.
