Pirates Against Bush was included in a piece The Boston Globe did about the Really Really Democratic Bazaar! It is a quote from me about Pirates and a picture of Eric and I (which we didn't know they were taking!) here's part of the article: img.photobucket.com/albums/v33/LDuncan/img015.jpgOur protests with Bl(A)ck Tea Society were also shown on many new stations (we have a few taped if anyone is interested). Eric and I also shot alot of video and many pictures that should be up soon. The word is spreading! CaptainLaura

Great! I will be posting those sources on the website in the "Press" section tonight.
Also, on this computer that I am using right now (not mine) the official website's frame on the left is kinda squished and weird, is it like that for all of you, because I can fix it if it is. I use a really high resolution on my computer so I can't see it all the way everyone else does.

yes it is that way on my computer. also recently the site is taking forever to open.
In the press list I forgot to mention that First Mate Dan talked to a Boston Herald photographer. After they finished Dan told him that he could take a Pirate button (because this was Tuesday at the bazaar and we had pirates buttons on our table). The man took one, and then (I don't know if he thought we couldn't see) walked 10 feet through the crowd and threw it in the trash. I was funny because Dan predicted the guy would, and after he did First Mate Dan went into the trash and got it back. I spoke with the MetroWest Daily News, owned by the Boston Herald (as listed above). They misrepresented what I said, wrote an inaccurate article about what happened (such as reporting the wrong number of arrest and making the protesters look very evil and the cops great... which was not the case at all) and they misspelled my name even though I spelled it out onto his tape and they were just terrible in general (such as closing with saying that our protests had no effect).
PLEASE do not talk or give interviews to the Herald or any paper/news/thing owned by them. I was already not speaking to the Herald because it's become such a tabloid (such as Prositutes In Your Town! or Thugs Steal from Granny) and their front page is some ridiculous title that takes up the whole page except for maybe a picture. All the articles I've read by them (they wrote alot about Bl(A)ck Tea and the DNC) were very critical of everyone particulary activists. They reported a story a long time back about anarchists coming to the DNC with supersoakers filled with piss among other things (which was based on a rumor about something that may have happened in PA about 5 years ago). Anyway, in short, they will do anything to make our group or any activists look bad, and they will slaughter your quotes, so please, especially when representing PAB, do not give them encouragement with interviews. There will be plenty of interviews in the future with real journalists and reporters.

I have no idea why the site is taking for ever to open (maybe it is your internet connection, I do not know?) but I have made some changes with the frames. Is it better now?

I'm not sure where to put this so I decided to tack it onto the end of another press announcment. Today Eric and I were interviewed (again) for No Censorship Radio about the Really Really Democratic Bazaar and Pirates Against Bush! Eric is volunteering there and I was tagging along but when we got to the office they asked us if we wanted to be on the air. Sadly we didn't get it on tape but it's just another Pirate Press announcment.

Also, today again on No Censorship Radio, Pirates was briefly mentioned, so hopefully the persistance will get people to drop in. Also on the show was Nick, the oldest one arrested (and the one with the worst charges) from the DNC. He is a VERY cool guy, I can't stress that enough, I was so impressed with him. Solidarity at his court date (I have to doublecheck but I know it's in September). also this is random and not worth a full post, but if anyone is bored or interested, check these sites out. www.crimethinc.com/www.radicalgraphics.org/www.marchforourlives.org/modification: Pirates was also mentioned a few times on NCRadio the next week.

Up The Pirates!
Oh man, that press is great! Why don't we open a new threat with "Pirates Press" under "News" where people can post press info? I would do it myself but my computer is a bit broken at the moment.
I just read the alternet.org article and they said that "Pirates Against Bush" burnt the flag and the Bush/Kerry effigy and that one of those arested were in PAB. Too bad neither of these were true (should we write to alternet and correct them or should we let it go?), the group of Pirates were not all from PAB (most were not) and though I personally am in solidarity with that group of Pirates (that was a great march...pictures will be up soon, I promise) and those arrested they weren't connected to PAB. Just to clear that up...
Now after the DNC we just need to keep our presence up! If anyone has ideas of actions or issues PAB should tackle post in "Ideas"!
Love and revolution, Capt'nLaura
