A vigil to honor Victoria Snelgrove, brutally murdered by Boston Police late Wednesday night, is planned for tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Fenway Park. A protest, probably loud and angry, is planned for 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the same location.
Posters have been placed in Copley Square about the Vigil. If anyone has more info about the sponsors (her friends, we believe), please post to IndyMedia.
The protest Sunday is being organized by a coalition of Boston groups. Further info will be posted as updates arrive.
PLEASE ATTEND THESE EVENTS, or organize your own. We need to get out there EN MASSE!!!!! Please forward and post this info everywhere.
Who do we fear? Who do we trust? How do we know? Fuck police brutality. ~Anti-Flag

Saturday, December 4th is a citywide student anti-war protest. Gathering at Boston Common around 1, we will then march down to Copley. A permit is beign sought. This is a coordinated effort between numerous college campuses in the Boston area, such as Harvard, MIT, Brandeis, etc. There is a planning meeting about it this Sunday at 5 pm. Please see the calendar for more details. I think we should have a Pirate contingent.

FROM THE AMERICAN CIVIL LIBERTIES UNION Something extraordinary is happening. In the last two weeks, thousands of people - deeply concerned about the direction our country has taken - have spontaneously joined the ACLU. They've added their names to those of over 400,000 other Americans committed to defending the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Today our most fundamental freedoms are in jeopardy. Only a bold, spirited movement of people like you who refuse to surrender your freedoms can protect our civil liberties. On January 20th, George Bush will pledge to uphold the Constitution. Our goal is to recruit 100,000 new ACLU supporters by that day to proclaim "I REFUSE TO SURRENDER MY FREEDOM." Let's make it clear to those who seek to take away our freedoms that they are on the wrong side of the law...the wrong side of core American values...and the wrong side of history. The more forcefully we speak out and the more voices that join us the more effective we can be -- in the courts, in the press, in Congress - in protecting our freedoms against those who would trample them. Your active participation has been so important to our work, and we hope you will help launch this campaign by doing two things right now: Sign the "I Refuse to Surrender my Freedom" pledge. www.aclu.org/refusetosurrender/?orgid=EA111704A&MX=1734&H=1After you sign, ask three of your friends to take the pledge too. Right-wing extremists are more than ready to expand the Patriot Act, attack the separation of church and state, expand their efforts to institutionalize discrimination against same-sex couples, and limit a woman's right to make her own decisions about her body. Some of the most powerful politicians in America are determined to undermine our fundamental freedoms and the basic constitutional principles that define our democracy. Please stand up, sign the pledge, join the ACLU -- and defend the principles and values that represent the best of America. Sincerely, Anthony D. Romero Executive Director

From the Kensington Welfare Rights Union: 11/30 Philadelphia: Homeless families occupy army recruitment center 2:00 PM PHILADELPHIA HOMELESS FAMILIES OCCUPY ARMY RECRUITMENT CENTER, DEMAND MONEY FOR HOUSING NOT FOR WAR! Today, as part of their "Homes For The Holidays: Operation Bring the Money Home" Campaign, dozens of homeless families belonging to the Kensington Welfare Rights Union (KWRU) have moved their Bushville Tent City to sit in at the main Army Recruiting Office in Philadelphia. As police and Civil Affairs officers attempted to lock the families out of the office, the families quickly placed signs saying "Billions for the War, Still Nothing for the Poor" and photographs of homeless children with the words, "Bring the Money Home" on every available space in the office. See www.kwru.org for photographs and updates. Background: November 30, 2004: Early this afternoon, members of the Kensington Welfare Rights Union - homeless families currently living at the KWRU's BUSHVILLE in North Philadelphia - attempted to meet with the Office of Housing and Urban Developement (HUD) in Philadelphia. Soon after the families entered the building the elevators were turned off and we were denied our right to speak with government officials. The growing protest then moved to the Army Recruiting Office at Broad and Arch where the families then took over the Army Recruiting Office. Others have set up to spend the night outside. No family should ever go homeless one night in Philadelphia. Your support is needed. The Kensington Welfare Rights Union is insisting that Alphonso Jackson, the current Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, fly to Philadelphia to witness firsthand the impact the recent budget cuts made by the Bush Administration have had on the families in this city. "The Bush administration continues to put billions of dollars towards a needless, brutal war while families across America suffer without the basic necessities of life. This is not a fight for a bed in a homeless shelter; it is a fight for decent, affordable housing for everyone is this wealthy nation." - Cheri Honkala, Kensington Welfare Rights Union/ Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign Kensington Welfare Rights Union NUHHCE, ASFCME, AFL-CIO PO Box 50678 Philadelphia, PA 19132-9720 Phone: 215/203-1945 Fax: 215/203-1950 email: kwru@kwru.org web: www.kwru.org

There are a lot of updates in the calendar of this forum, including solidarity events with hotel workers, free self defense classes, a new radio show to listen to, radical carrolling, a meeting to plan resistance to the inauguration, and a Columbian author and union organizer speaking... all happening in this next week, plus more events in the future!

For information about the Inauguration I highly recommend www.dc.indymedia.org, especially the 'razorwire' section in the middle. Most mainstream media has terrible coverage of the protests (duh). also, dig all the updates on the calendar.
