Are any Pirates Against Bush going to be at the Republican National Convention? Captain Laura and I are both not sure if we will be able to make it, though I would really like to go (and I know she wants too and was going to with pirate Emma). I may be able to stay with my uncles. Anyways, people who are (if any) should talk and organize, maybe go together, maybe plan a direct action together. They should also hook up with the Pirates Bloc from the RNC and other pirates that will be there. Also anyone who is interested in distributing anti-RNC things (handouts, posters) talk to me, Squashbuckler Eric (or Captain Laura if you are already talking to her).

going to the rnc would be awesomeness
we could take the chinatown bus (nyc chinatown to boston chinatown near so. station) for $20 a person round trip, which is lots cheaper than public transportation like amtrak or greyhound
i would be into going for a day or for staying overnight, depending on what other people want

Though it is still possible I'd be heading down there on the Chinatown Bus (three cheers for cheap transportation) for a day (if so I'll give you all a heads up and maybe we can get a small crew together but don't count on me), I am a bit burnt-out from all the DNC organizing to go down for the whole time (I'm also trying to save up to head to Vermont this September for a "Renewing the Anarchist Tradition" conferance, anyone interested come talk to me!). And a boatload of SOLIDARITY to all Anti-RNC organizing.

okay, so for anyone going to the RNC (which unfortunately I assume as only Nadine as far as people on the forum- though I know other pirates are going such as PirateMatt, NinjaPirateJo, maybe PirateMike, and probably more) Mike from the MetroWest Daily News called me this morning asking about the RNC and Pirates, and because I am not able to go, I am passing the information along to you. Mike would like anyone who is going to call him ASAP at 617-722-2495. I spoke with this paper before and I was not happy about the way they reported, neither the DNC protests or me, so warning to anyone who calls. Here is the article, though I am pretty sure you can't read it in full without paying. I have a hard copy if anyone is that interested: www.metrowestdailynews.com/localRegional/view.bg?articleid=74336I posted on the site before warning AGAINST talking to this paper, or any owned by the Herald, but it seems the Herald owns many local newspapers and does not influence most of them. Here is the post I wrote, it's long and about halfway down: piratesagainstb.proboards34.com/index.cgi?board=news&action=display&thread=1091330125&start=0maybe speak to them as an activist and not a pirate, but either is up to you.

i wish i wish i wish i could make it to the rnc but a seroiusly overprotective mother prevents it. (and me being to cheap to go, etc.) I'm wondering if there is going to be some kind of solidarity march in boston for people who cant make it to NYC to show support. and if there isn't one yet, lets make one happen. (and if we do something, and post to indymedia, the bostonanarchists list, etc, we can probably get a decent crowd.) i'll think about it (and we can talk at the pool party) but maybe we could do something intersting... a march to pro-bush corporations or to rucriuting centers or something, or some kind of street theater. i dunno....

I was actually thinking that myself, Ben. There isn't one I have heard of but I bet we could get people to come...We'll definitely talk about this at the Pool Party and see if we can come up with some definite plans. Maybe we can email some local email lists (bostonanarchists etc) and see if anyone else would be interested in helping plan or just showing up.

Hope all is well with everyone. for those of you who aren't already following the RNC, the best place to get information is www.nyc.indymedia.orgthey have regular updates... here is the newest two. (I thought they were very cool so I'm sharing them). FYI about 1000 people had been arrested by the end of last night. 05:00 PM Several thousand people are in the labor march, which is at 31st and 8th. 04:45 PM from comrades in Madrid: "About 60 persons (mostly anarchists)showed up today at the US Embassy in Solidarity with those arrested in New York. Dozens of UIP cops (anti-group), including an armoured vehicle, were waiting for demonstrators while a police helicopter flew around the area (they were probably expecting more people). Police identified the first persons that got there and took positions in both sidewalks, so the people coming were divided in two groups, and wouldn´t let any banners be displayed. The two groups coordinated by cell-phones and decided to leave the area, taking a walk in the streets near the near. After being tracked by the police for a while protesters decided to hang a banner in a bridge over the Paseo de la Castellana (one of the main avenues of Madrid) and disperse themselves. The demo had no authorisation, that's why cops tried to abort it, but no arrestes were made. Revolutionary greetings from Madrid!"

Pirates who went to the RNC: please post about your experiences upon return. To the rest of us (and them too): Many many people were arrested during the RNC, the number is over 1,700 right now. A good number of these people do not have bail money and committed no crime. There is a legal fund for these people and it would be a wonderful show of solidarity if people collected some money and sent it down south. Here's the information: To make donations to this fund, contact United For Peace and Justice by phone, web, or mail. They can take checks, money orders, and cash, and can process donations by credit card over the phone or web. Phone Contact: 212-868-5545 Website/Paypal: www.unitedforpeace.orgMail: UFPJ, P.O. Box 607, Times Square Station, NY NY 10108 For bail questions ONLY, call the 24-hour information hotline at 347-225-6479, or email nyclwfund@lycos.com
