Captain Laura and I were talking... and are any of you pirates interested in doing banner drops on bridges over freeways? it is an amazingly easy and cheap way to reach so many people with a message (that can be painted onto an old white sheet). It could be Pirates related or not (we need promotion but so do many ideas and issues) or both! There is an awesome site that Captain Laura showed me about this- I'll post it in a reply when I get the link. So, what say ye?

That's amazing! I would be interested in getting involved with a banner drop thing but I'm not sure how to go about doing that.

Can someone move this threat to the "Ideas" section? I have no idea how to. Thanks!
I would definitely be interested in getting something like this organized (maybe on those bridges over the Mass Pike?). They are pretty easy to organize (find if it's legal/illegal (then plan accordingly with necessary security) find a bridge then one meeting to make the signs, one outing to actually hang them). Next meeting I'm going to bring it up to see how many are interested, we'd only need a small group and would be cool if we could actually make it happen.
PS: Another meeting before September? Please? When? Ideas? Help!
Solidarity, Capt'nLaura

Thread has been moved! Well since we're having the Pool Party at Pirate Dan ARRR's house, maybe we could have a meeting before or after that there since we'll have a bunch of Pirates all rallied up there. Just an idea.

that's what I told the captain as well I don't know if we could effectively organize a meeting before then, so I say have a type of meeting at the PPP.

yeah. lets do it. but whether it is or isn't legal, im sure cops/random passerbys will give us some trouble if they see us. lets all think of slogans and such. (which i'm hideously horribly bad at doing) and if you see a laundry bin full of tableclothes at some corporate resuarant, er, well, they're good, light and can be sewn together. or tarps or lightweight cloth on if its cheap.

Who is up for another banner drop, maybe just one banner, in solidarity with the 85 kids who are having a sit-in at their high school in Boulder, Colorado? It could just say "solidarity with the colorado 85! No War! No Draft!" Tell me if that sounds lame... a solidarity banner drop was the implusive thing for me to say. Maybe on Saturday? there is nothing at all on the calendar this next saturday. If a banner drop for this seems stupid I still feel like we really need to get the fuck out there and do something (regardless of whether or not it relates to the colorado kids). maybe mass distribution of flyers where a couple of us print out a ton and cover Boston (or a target location?). I don't know what the theme would be since it clearly wouldn't just be "so... we hate bush". maybe we can save this idea for the call to combat Military Recruiting on December 8th (we don't have to do it then, but around then) and we could do educational stuff about military recruitment. anyways this would be much easier to hash out in a meeting, I think we should have one.

I am interested in doing an anti-bush banner drop related to the election next week, or some sort of action. Contact me if you want to join me, or post if you have other ideas.
